Surrender into the role of student. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in both taking and leading YTT programs, is that some students feel as if they are authorities on particular topics covered within the training. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, students must remember that during a YTT their job is to learn, not teach.
Laura Martini E-RYT 500 is the founder of Yoga Teacher Prep, has been teaching yoga for over 8 years and is also certified to lead yoga teacher trainings which she does in Kelowna, BC, Canada and Mexico. She loves to mentor yoga teachers; guiding them toward a balanced and fulfilling career and lifestyle.
As a student, you have paid a great deal of money to learn from your teacher so you must give them as much opportunity as possible to teach. Consistently disagreeing with what is being presented or constantly sharing what you know can take away from the overall experience of the YTT program.
