30 Days of Yogi Wisdom – Day 18 featuring Swami Sivananda Saraswati
“There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient.”
There is nothing better than a clear and direct quote from a yoga master. Swami Sivananda Saraswati does not beat around the bush here! He tells us straight up that there is a silver lining to every single failure, it just sometimes takes a bit of time to see it. I feel like I’ve been told that ‘when one door closes, another door opens’ about a hundred times. However, being strongly told that the other door may take a while to open makes this quote feel more legit. It’s like maybe Swami Sivananda has some serious personal experience and wisdom in this department.
I truly feel like the real lesson here and what makes this quote resonate with me is that we are told we must be patient with our failures. That perhaps the reason our western modern culture has such issues and struggles with failure is because we think everything should move at the speed of light. When one door closes we basically think that the next door should open right at that instant. When it doesn’t we suffer because we are living in expectation. It is the knowledge and wisdom that we are not in control of WHEN the next door will open that Swami Sivananda Saraswati is emphasizing.
So, when we face our failures and we are encouraged to know there is a lesson in that failure, we can’t stop there. We must also accept that the lesson may not be learned for some time. Trust that time will reveal the purpose of our failure and deliver something ‘good’ in due time.
